Hi,
My buddy and I are planning a little road trip to New York this week end just to catch a Yankees game (either sunday%26#39;s game or monday%26#39;s...)
We%26#39;re taking the bus and I see that the main station is right in Time Square. How do we get to the stadium from there. Are we better taking the subway (specific line and stop please) or just taking a cab would be better ?
My main question though is that the game is at 6:30 pm and the last bus (to go back home) is leaving at 11:00 pm. Let%26#39;s say it%26#39;s a normal ballgame, I figure it%26#39;s gonna last 3 hours max. Do we have enough time to get back to the bus station in Time Square after the game to catch our bus ?
thanks

Are you taking your bus from the Port Authority? If so, then take the Uptown A or C subway line to 59th St./Columbus Circle (one stop away on the A, or two stops on the C), where you can change for the Uptown B or D line to 161st St./Yanee Stadium. That should take you a little more than half an hour. Forget a taxi, bad idea.
Just keep an eye on the clock and leave yourself a little extra time to make it back to catch your bus.
By the way, it%26#39;s Times Square (named after the New York Times).
Have fun.

Alright thanks
** I%26#39;ve heard so many things about the Bronx at night, any reason to be worried when we%26#39;ll be in the subway after the game or there will be too many fans to even think about that ?
No worries, you%26#39;ll be surrounded by thousands of Yankees fans. Count on it!
The uptown D will be running express in the Bronx next weekend, which means it will skip Yankee Stadium on Sunday. If you need to take the D, you could take it up to the Tremont Avenue stop and transfer to a downtown D, which will stop at 161st/Yankee Stadium.
On Monday, the D would be okay.
If you%26#39;re going to Sunday%26#39;s game, I%26#39;d suggest taking the S train from Times Square to Grand Central, then switching to the uptown 4 train. (Not the 5 or 6.) The 4 stops at the same station- 161st/Yankee Stadium.
And again- no: you will not have any problems with safety attending a Yankees game in the Bronx. Despite what many people, including some on this board seem to think, it%26#39;s not like The Warriors.
Okay so just to make sure I understand well:
The best way (for sunday) is to take the S train (represented by a small GREY line on the official subway map and which I can take right under the Port Authority Bus Terminal ) up to Grand Central (which appear to be only a stop or 2 later). Then I use my transfer and take the 4 train (represented by a GREEN line on the map) up to Yankees Stadium. And then I can do the samething to come back.
Just need a confirmation for all of the above.
thanks !
Just a quick word about your timing: while the game may be scheduled to begin at 6:30, it will probably be closer to 6:40 before the first pitch is thrown. More importantly, however, is to remember that this will be a playoff game, meaning it will run longer than a regular season game. This is due to a few more commercials between innings, but mainly because every play becomes more important. The pitchers will perhaps take more time between pitches, the batters might step out of the batter%26#39;s box more often, there might be more player changes during the game, and any of a number of other reasons.
While it very may well last only two and a half hours, it is more probable that the game will be closer to the three or even three and a half hour neighborhood.
I see the Monday game is scheduled to begin at 6:00; maybe that would be a better choice, if you can make the trip on Monday...
Karros, that%26#39;s correct. However, please don%26#39;t consider the line%26#39;s color to be an indicator of the route. There are 3 trains with green logos, but only one of them runs to Yankee Stadium- the 4.
Also, you won%26#39;t need to use your Metrocard when switching between the S and 4 trains- they%26#39;re located in the same station, so there%26#39;s no need to go through the turnstiles again.
Thanks Alice for the details !
As for Rocco, yeah I thought about going to the monday%26#39;s game instead but since there is no way to know if it%26#39;s gonna be played or not, I%26#39;d rather not take any chance and go to game # 3.
thanks again everybody
