Have to do business in Suffolk County, Long Island. Is there an interesting, nice town between Rocky Point and Huntington Station? Any good places to stay besides the usual highway side chains? I checked out Port Jefferson - seems nice but hotel reviews sound pretty bleak. Anyone with some suggestions your help would be greatly appreciated.
Suffolk County Hotels
Huntington, not huntington station, is a ';mini-city'; with nice shops and upscale restaurants. Port Jefferson is a nice ';sea-side'; town, although not known for great cuisine. It is really more that you are on the water than anything else...nice to stroll have a drink, etc. Danfords does look nice from the outside, but I do agree the reviews are sketchy!
there is the 3 village inn in Stony Brook.
I would stay at a convenient location off of the expressway, say Hauppauge, at the Marriot or Windwatch. I believe the Sheraton was recently renovated. Check reviews! You may have a few chain restaurants right by you, but nothing charming. I would rent a car and explore some of the towns. Long Island is great with lots and lots to do. With the exception of the east end (hamptons, montauk) we don%26#39;t really have tourist destinations.
I will continue to think and will report back with suggestions.
Suffolk County HotelsA most beautiful town is Stony Brook and you can%26#39;t beat the Stony Brook Inn - lovely setting and good food.
Thanks for the suggestions. Stony Brook sounds nice and it%26#39;s right in the between the two places I need to visit. I will check out the Inn there.
