Had arrangements to rent an apt for a wk in Oct; just fell through; YIKES! I am NOT liking what I am seeing for $125/night or less; don%26#39;t mind taking the subway, but I will be in town for training and do not have a LOT of time pre-/post-training ...so hoping to find something in Midtown. I%26#39;m just dreaming ...yes??! :(
B and B near Midtown??
or does it make ANY sense to do something like stay on Staten Island somewhere and take the ferry??
As I rethink this I%26#39;d be willing to take subway/ferry just so long as I don%26#39;t have more than about 35 or 40 minutes
training takes place on Park Ave at 26th street at Giraffe hotel.
Thanks for ANY advice that those of you who are familiar with NYC can give.

$125/night is not really feasible for a hotel or b %26amp; b with private bathroom in Manhattan. The Larchmont hotel is in the village and has shared baths, gets good reviews and for a single should fit your budget, but it%26#39;s not likely it%26#39;s available for an entire week in Oct. at this point, but you can try.

The Chelsealodge.com is another shared bathroom option even closer to the Giraffe, but again, availability at this late date could be a problem.
Second Home on Second and East Village bed and coffee are some b %26amp; b%26#39;s with shared bath.
suttonresidence.com is a place in midtown also with shared bath that another poster mentioned recently. I don%26#39;t know anything about the place itself other than the location is good.
Don%26#39;t know where the apt. you had booked was from, but you could contact nyhabitat.com and see if they have anything. Citylightsnewyork.com is another agency and they do ';hosted'; apt. rentals which means you stay with someone in their apt. but you have your own bedroom and sometimes bathroom.
If you are a woman, there are some women%26#39;s residences that would work if they have room. Look on this page (prepared by another poster here), and scroll all the way down til you see women%26#39;s residences

Leo House is an option but unlikely to be available. Info here

Last thought for now is looking at some hostels on hostelz.com
I%26#39;ve concentrated on giving you options in Manhattan, but there are some other possibilities outside Manhattan. Before I rattle them off, tell me if you%26#39;re male or female and how many nights you really need.
two females; staying Oct 16-21
thank you nywhiz; appreciate the time you are giving to this. :)
to nywhiz: I have looked into the ideas you have posted so far; you were right; trying to get something at this late date looks to be nearly impossible. ...still looking. thank you!!
The Pan Am hotel in Queens is $147/night plus tax for 2 double beds. It will take you about 30-45 mins. to get in and out of Manhattan from there, but it%26#39;s not a terrible option.

Your budget is really unrealistic, esp. if you%26#39;re expecting 2 separate beds.
If you want to look into the women%26#39;s residences, that would make sense for you if they have room.

Have you contacted nyhabit and/or citylightsnewyork?
