On TKTS: Seating and play

I%26#39;ll be visiting NY next Feb 2008.

My plan is spend a night going to the theatre: The Phantom of the Opera or The Lion King are my two options.

Which one would you recommend to me?

Should I purchase tickets through Ticketmaster or try my luck at TKTS during those days? Can I get Orchestra seating tickets through TKTS?

Thanks in advance

Matias

On TKTS: Seating and play

The Lion King will not be available at TKTS so if you want to go buy them now.

Phantom, maybe, but you cannot select your seats as TKTS.

On TKTS: Seating and play

Phantom of the OPera is likely to be at the TKTS booth and also likely to be available on discount for advance purchase by code from broadwaybox.com (but codes currently posted may be not be good for Feb. YOu%26#39;ll likely have to wait for a few months.)

Lion King is almost never available on discount and you won%26#39;t find it at TKTS so if you want to see that, you must buy now thru ticketmaster.

Impossible to advise without knowing anything about you or who%26#39;s in your party.

Since you know the specific shows you want, you can print out seating charts form websties like playbill.com. Then, for Phantom, bring it with you to TKTS. Dont%26#39; feel rushed. Ask the cashier what kind of seats they have available. They will tell you. You can even show the cashier the seating chart and ask them to point out the seats. I have done this (at the Soputh St. Seaport TKTS) with no problem.

You could also print out the discount from broadwaybox and bring that to the theater when you arrive and see which day of your stay they have the best seats with the discount.

This discount expires in Nov.

but there%26#39;s sure to be another one good for your trip.

Matute,

Hope you enjoy your trip. I saw The Lion King here in Austin and The Phantom of the Opera in NYC. They are both great shows and have alot of visual imagery that was truly spectacular. I%26#39;m not sure about who is in your party, the ages or the like - but I am glad we saw the Phantom in the Majestic (I believe that was the location). The theatre has this great elegance to it that matched the Phantom wonderfully and it just %26#39;felt%26#39; right to watch it there.

Now with a show like Lion King in NYC - I%26#39;m sure we would have enjoyed it in NYC, or Chicago, or San Fran - just anywhere it played. I don%26#39;t think that the actual feel of the theatre would have changed how wonderful the acting/ scenery was.

So you asked for a recommendation and I recommend the Phantom of the Opera. Plus, when you get back to Argentina and people asked what did you do in NYC - you can say - Oh yes dahling I went to see the Phantom of the Opera.

Cheers!

oops forgot to say - yes we got Orchestra seating through TKTS the day before for a matinee showing at the seaport TKTS booth. We were in the third row and it was so cool! I would suggest trying your luck at the booth if you can risk the chance of changing the day you can make it in case your first date is sold out.

Thank you all very much!!! I%26#39;ll go for Phantom through TKTS

Best

Matute

Remember, at the South Street Seaport location you can use TKTS for the day before (Wed for Thursday as an example). At the times square location it is same day only, this can make a big difference.

Are you sure? I thought the seaport location only sold matinee tickets the day before.

Better check tdf.org

Hi Bettina!!

To clarify, both locations only sell day of tickets for evening preformances, the downtown localton sell matinee performances the day before, the times sq sells only day of tickets.
