nywhiz, eastgate towers or park south

hello all

i just got word about the eastgate towers 1 bed room for 295

or the park south for 275 1 queen

what i like to know which is in a nicer area for restaurants, subways, and walking distance to general retail shopping. I

do plan on using the metro though, and i am coming from newark

so i may get the shuttle coming into penn station.

This is a tough call. It%26#39;s almost 6 of one, half dozen of other.

Park South

pros -

%26gt;a ';real'; hotel with a restaurant and includes some breakfast

%26gt;more up to date furnishings-will feel more upscale

%26gt;in an area that%26#39;s combo residential and business so more restaurant choices

%26gt;1-2 blocks from subway stop

Eastgate Tower%26#39;

pros-

%26gt;more space

%26gt;will feel more like you live here

%26gt;within a short walk from Grand Central if you want to take the shuttle bus to/from the airport

While they%26#39;re not in the same neighborhood, they%26#39;re not far from each other. I went to hopstop and got info from both to Macy%26#39;s for instance as follows

Eastgate to Macy%26#39;s .76 miles and 17 mins.

Park South to Macy%26#39;s .62 miles and 13 mins.

I know the $275 for the Park South does NOT include tax (from quikbook). Does the $295 for the Eastgate include tax? Have you looked at the ';candid travelers photos'; of both? Does one appeal to you more than the other?

thanks for your reply whiz,

does not include tax for eastgate.

pics are more appealing at park south actually.

i think also i may not get out of the fee at apts2book

even thoughits been 5 days of back and forth

and i spoke to them about 3 times already.

it is such a close call, basically 20 bucks.

Is the Eastgate not thru apts2book? Where are you getting the $295 rate? It%26#39;s much more than that on quikbook and on the affinia site. If the Eastgate is through apts2book, how much would that save you in cancellation fees? You would have to come into the equation.

Of these 2, I personally would prefer the Park South I think for just 3 nights. If it were a longer trip, or if the Eastgate were cheaper, I might chose that.

I did look on Hotwire for your dates and see a 3* in midtown central for $299/night but I can%26#39;t figure out what hotel it is so don%26#39;t want to tempt you. The icons don%26#39;t match any of the hotels. If Voy is reading this or someone with good Hotwire knowledge, the icons are restaurant, business center and internet. No exact matches from betterbidding list.

yes the eastgate is through apts2book they have a 90$ fee for their service, its taken off the total rate then the remaining is paid to the hotel. they gave me #34 which was the bedford and i replied and said that was too much for what it was.

park south is quikbook.

i would like to get out of the $90fee, but it may not happen

thank you so much

I can%26#39;t see how apts2book can charge you if you didn%26#39;t actually book anything. Did you book something? If you will have to pay the $90 regardless of whether you take EAstgate or not, that%26#39;s more than the savings you%26#39;d have for Park South. ;(

I noticed they don%26#39;t indicate on their website what the cancellation terms are.

yes its all a little vague, it does not say if you accept the reservation or not there is a fee, but they do ask for your credit crd so they can proceed with booking/looking for something,

so the savings is not in my hand if i get stuck with paying the fee

and go with quickbooks park south,

guess i get stuck with the easatgate and learn my lesson.

thank you
