Hi, I am visiting NYC for the first time over New Year with my husband and a couple of friends. Can anyone recommend anywhere to eat for New Year%26#39;s Eve that will be reasonably priced and have a lively atmosphere and pretty central to Times Square for the countdown? Thanks very much for your suggestions!
Where to go for New Year's Eve- somewhere lively ??
Check out this %26lt;a href=';http://www.noo.com';%26gt;new years eve New York%26lt;/a%26gt; event guide. They typically list lots of options for New Years. Doesn%26#39;t look like too much stuff is ready yet as it might be a bit early but they%26#39;ll surely have lots of event details.

Are you planning on going to Times Square for the countdown? I hope you understand what you%26#39;re getting into. Join 700,000 of your closest friends on the street standing for 7 hours, with not a bathroom in sight. Expect tight security. No backpacks or beverages allowed.
You need to get there around 4 or 5 pm if you want to get very close, so forget about dinner.
Or, you can pay about $150-$200 per person to have dinner in Times Square at places like Bubba Gumps or Olive Garden. Or pay double that to go somewhere like Foley%26#39;s Fish house.
If you don%26#39;t mind watching from about 1/4 mile away - and yes, you CAN still see the ball drop from that distance - then the possibly best place to have dinner is Ben%26#39;s Delicatessen, one of the ';newer'; Jewish delis in NYC. That%26#39;s what my friends do.
