There is a group of 10 of us meeting up in NYC. Some coming from the states, the rest coming from UK. We are all staying at a hotel in Midtown, near the Waldorf - but we are certainly not requesting that the recommendation be in that area.
Most days we wil probably part ways but we would like 1 dinner for the group to get together. Entree price range anywhere from $15-$45. Is that realistic? Any recommendations? No particular preference on type of rest - only that its unique :)
Thanks!

good places for a group would be Pipa on 19th, lucy latin kitchen on 18th (I LOVE this place- they are very accomodating to groups). in the same area is rosa mexicano (18th) - AWESOME guac that they prepare table-side.
if you are looking for novelty, you could try Churrascaria Plataforma on 49th st nr 8th- all you can eat and they bring around tray after tray of every meat you can think of to eat.

Carmine%26#39;s is a good choice for a large group. If you decide to go, reserve as soon as you decide and when you go, only order one main course for every two individuals. They serve family style with very large portions.

When you say ';unique';, any specifics?
Places like Landmarc in the Time Warner Building and Metrazur in Grand Central Terminal provide stunning backdrops. I think Rise in Battery Park would also make your price range. There are also places in the Theater District that offer prix-fixe menus.

Have a look at opentable.com, which also allows you to make reservations from their site. You can find reviews and sample menus on menupages.com.
You%26#39;ve already gotten a good list. I%26#39;ll add China Grill to it.
Not sure what to make of the request for unique. What might be unique to a group from Houston is not usually the same as those from the UK. Unique in NYC often means, as QB said, a view or I%26#39;ll add, a gimmick. What%26#39;s the age range of the group? What%26#39;s an example of what you would consider unique? Is it a rowdy crowd or more sedate?
Thanks so much for info so far! I really appreciate it. More details if it helps paint a little better picture...the age of the group is 29-35...old enough to know better and certainly beyond %26#39;rowdy.%26#39; i use unique to mean non-corporate or cookie-cutter. I%26#39;d hate to go all the way to New York to get something that I could have in any other city.
