Hi there,
I am taking my Mum across to NYC for a birthday trip and have a couple of random queries I hope you guys can help me with. I have looked at the FAQ%26#39;s and old posts and want to say thanks! I have had loads of great ideas and tips from them.
So random questions:
1. I would like to take my Mum for a massage/facial somewhere nice but not too expensive (trying to stick to a tight budget here) could you recommend any? Particulary if they don%26#39;t need to be booked well in advance, asI don%26#39;t know how much she will be up for once I have taken here around to the galleries/shows/sights etc.
2. She has always wanted to have her palm read and I thought that this might be a good opertunity to do something out of the ordinary and make it a bit memorable. Could you recommend a place? Ditto with the lack of pre-booking.
3. We are also both veggie and will be eating out every night (7). I know of Angelicas Kitchen but are there any other good veggie places out there? Also I don%26#39;t know what it is like in the States but I assume that all restaurants have a veggie option on the menu - please correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks in advance for any advice recieved. I%26#39;m really looking forward to seeing NYC in person. 8 days and counting!!!

Random questions for 1st trip
Hey there.
There are a lot of places to get a massage/facial in New York. Your best bet is to gogle %26#39;massage facial new york%26#39; and take your pick.
As far as Palm Reading goes, you could do worse than Astounding Vema (Queen of Illusion). Her details are: 310 E 46th St
New York, NY 10017, USA and her phone number is (212) 599-7576.
Have a great trip.
There have been previous posts on massages and facials if you do a text search. Where are you staying?
Can%26#39;t help on the palm reader. Just be careful b/c there are a lot of scam artists who will tell you you have a curse and must buy some crystals (from them etc.).
menupages.com is a website that will help you locate veggie places. Candle 79 is considered the nicest I think. Hangawi is veggie/korean. There are quiet a few Indian vegetarian places. Many restaurants have veggie offerings but not all. I wouldn%26#39;t go to a steak house and expect a decent veggie plate nor would I assume the veggie offering at just any place will be delicious.
I%26#39;m just back from NY and adored Gobo which is an all-vegetarian restaurant on 6th Avenue b/t Waverly and 8th Street ! Very reasonably priced and great food. I am not a vegetarian and went back there twice even though I was not staying in the area - really fresh Asian inspired vegetarian food.
I just noticed there%26#39;s a psychic at Brasserie Julien on Sun-Tues that does palm reading etc. Not sure if you can find some veggie offerings there but have a look.

In my work history (over 25 years as a server and management) anytime we had a vegetarian request, the chef was more than happy to make up a dish for them that was not on the menu.
I believe today most places will have at least one on the menu or if not, they will make one up for you if you request one.
That said, I read the posts above and you have a few options worth trying.
Over this past weekend, we did plenty of walking and I remember coming across quite a few vegetarian only places, but since I am a serious carnivore, I didnt really remember where they were located. I do seem to think the majority were in the Village area..... sorry I am no help with addresses, I just wanted to let you know there are plenty in the city and also, the chef usually will work with you in assembling a dish that you would be able to enjoy.
Bliss is a really great spa.
I have red veins on my face from the facial I had at the highly recommended Mario Badescu so I can strongly advise against them, in advance of anything good you might hear!
