Guys

Im sure this has been asked before, can anyone recommend a historic italian restaurant-somewhere that has been around for years and years with a 1930%26#39;s feel?

John%26#39;s of 12th Street. Then walk over to Veniero%26#39;s for dessert.

We%26#39;ve had very good food, reasonably priced at Grotta Azzurra on Mulberry in Little Italy.

In fact, we%26#39;re going again this weekend. I can recommend the gnocchi.

Take a look at the collection of discussions on Italian restaurants in the FAQ ';sticky'; at the top of this forum. Bamonte%26#39;s and Johns%26#39; on Bleecker are often mentioned.

DINING DEBATES: BEST ITALIAN RESTAURANT: Best Italian Restaurant. Must we go to Little Italy?'; Most natives and locals agree - Little Italy ain鈥檛 what it used to be. It%26#39;s small and touristy, with only a few worthwhile hold-outs in the increasingly Asian neighborhood. But you can still find traditional ';red sauce';

checkered-tablecloth Italian restaurants all over NYC, just like Mama%26#39;s!

Bamonte%26#39;s in Williamsburg would fit the bill nicely.

We enjoyed Tony DiNapoli, the meals were very resonable and situated on 43rd st, next to Casablanca hotel, I think the chain has been opened since the 1950%26#39;s.
