Booked this hotel after kind advice on this forum.
Just wondered if anyone could recommend a good place to eat locally on a Sunday evening/night. Will be in off long flight and do not fancy walking to far.
Have researched a few locations but many seem to be closed on Sunday. Something nice but not too expensive as we probably would not appriciate it under the circumstances.
Intend booking the Gramercy Tavern for second night as have read it is good.Any suggestions for the last night would be welcome.
I think we are up to speed on shops but tips good local bars or those worth travelling to would be welcome. We will check out the Monkey bar in our hotel which is supposed to be ok.
lastly (and sorry for all the questions but they are the ones I am unsure about after research!) we would appriciate a good place for a real american breakfast locally.
Thank You.

I work across the street....
If Cellini is open, its good. Bice, Papillon and Rothmans on 54th between Madison and 5th are good too. Bice is loud. Rothmans is steak.
Korea Palace on 54th between Park and Lex will probably be open.
there%26#39;s a great strip of restaurants on 55th between 5th and 6th. La Vineria is excellent. Menchanko-tei for Japanese noodles should also be open. And, on 55th between Park and Lex there are 2 high end Chinese and a decent Middle Eastern buffet place Al Baraka (not sure if they have the buffet for dinner).

forgot to add - I unfortunately had to entertain a client at the Monkey Bar (she was afraid to take the subway!) and the food was slightly worse than OK but the service was horrible! We had to finally resort to asking the manager for the check, the waiter ignored us throughout the meal - disappeared for what seemed like hours.
the food is way too complex for what it is... I used to love the bar food at the Monkey Bar - but if the new restaurant menu is any indication, no.
Thanks for the help.
Due to mixed reviews had not intended eating in the hotel but is the bar end of things ok for drinks/athmosphere?
Have also thought of Oceana for week night dining.
What about Bill%26#39;s Gay Nineties right across the street? Not sure if they%26#39;re open on Sun. though. It%26#39;d basic American with a pubby atmosphere.
Another option is to walk to Fifth Ave. and go to Rockefeller Center which is only a short 5 min. walk and if ice rink is open, eat at Rock Center Cafe. Would be a nice way to start the trip overlooking the ice rink. I think it opens mid Oct.
Nearest breakfast place I can think of is Burger Heaven on the corner of 54 st. %26amp; Madison. There%26#39;s a coffee shop on 55th st. b/w Lexington %26amp; 3rd too.

The bar is great. Lots of men in suits after work - not sure how it is later.
Bills is OK - I%26#39;m not sure it would be open Sunday night. I looked for a sign outside Cellini when I passed by on way to lunch, but didnt see hours - just a menu.
Other than Burger Heaven and coffee shops (or hotels) I cant think of a decent breakfast place other than the usual take out places like Europa Cafe on Madison between 54th-53rd and Dishes, which is excelllent, but I%26#39;ve never had breakfast there (Park at 54th)
