We%26#39;re coming to NYC in part for the Breeder%26#39;s Cup being held at Monmouth, NJ on Saturday the 27th. We arrive on Thursday the 25th and depart on Sunday the 28th.
We%26#39;ve got the Hotel Mela reserved for Friday and Saturday nights at $249 (thanks to a tip on this board) but can%26#39;t find anything even close to that price for a 3* or above for the Thursday night.
Thought (dreamed) we had the Casablanca last night for $330 but received an e-mail from the hotel this morning saying they couldn%26#39;t honor the reservation we had made through Venere. The Venere web-site had indicated that a firm confirmation may not occur for 48 hours. So I thought it was too good to be true and alas it wasn%26#39;t.
Venere did say they had sent an e-mail to comparable hotels on our behalf seeking alternate accomodations but don%26#39;t want to rely on that producing any favorable results.
We%26#39;ve even considered staying the night across the river in Hoboken but can%26#39;t really find a decent deal over there.
I%26#39;d really like to keep the price under $350 so if anyone has any ideas I would be extremely GRATEFUL!!!!!!
Need Help for One Night's Hotel (10-25)
You could always try the POD hotel. They have queen bedded suites and queen bedded room both with private baths for 259 and 339. It gets good reviews on here.
Need Help for One Night's Hotel (10-25)
I would try to bid on priceline. I got the husdon hotel for $168 rooms are small but good for 1 night.
You can also try the parksouth Or the wolcott on their website. prices are starting to get expensive.
Since we haven%26#39;t booked the air yet and it since it really doesn%26#39;t matter it appears the easy solution is to book from Friday to Monday. Prices on Hotwire drop sharply and I can get a third night at the Mela at the same price as the first two as a good back-up in case we don%26#39;t find a Priceline price we like.
Thanks for the help.
There are a few options on Hotwire that fit your budget. Betterbidding.com has lists of Hotwire hotels that you can usually figure out what they are (match area, star level and amenities). There%26#39;s a 3* midtown east for $259 that looks like the Beekman Tower.
The Travel Inn and Skyline Inn should be below $250 and what
you will save in parking makes these places excellent
value although they do not have the cachet of Mela. However,
you might try calling the Mela and see if Ian can help you
out because he was very helpful to people seeking
fair prices at a very good hotel in Miami Beach.
