Can someone please clarify - tax free shopping???

I have just read on the jersey gardens mall website that purchases on clothes and shoes are tax-free. I have shopped there a few times and can%26#39;t remember if I was charged tax or not!

If anyone has any info on it, I%26#39;d love to know either way!

I believe in NJ there is no tax on clothing (but there are some small exceptions).

New jersey clothing and shoes no tax but, there is a tax for like costume jewerly and such. I am not sure of the tax amount.

As of Sept. 1, there is now no tax on clothing and shoes in NYC either. It used to be just those items under $110, but it now includes items of any price.

So does that mean, when I go to pay for a pair of shoes, they will be exactly the price they are on the tag?? I only ask because last year on the first day of the holdiay I went up to pay for some shoes and my friend had handed me the exact amount on the tag so up I went only to be told I needed a few more dollars and my friend was nowhere in sight with my purse and I had to leave them on the counter!
