Putting aside flight times, which local airports each airline uses and differences in flight price (not too significant for the dates I am looking at), which of the following would you fly with (LON to NYC):
- Zoom in Premium Economy
- BA in Economy
- AA in Economy
I am a member of the BA Exec Club (I need to check whether I%26#39;d earn miles if I flew AA as I%26#39;m a bit unsure on the rules) but I assume for this short-ish trip in Economy, that wouldn%26#39;t have a big impact.
Thanks for your help.
Which airline to NYC?Hi there,
i flew with BA in economy last year and found it very good and we are using them again in november to jfk,
regards,
Darren
Which airline to NYC?I don%26#39;t consider 7 hrs. ';short-ish'; and would generally prefer premium economy on any airline to regular economy on any airline. That said, I don%26#39;t know anyone personally who%26#39;s flown Zoom. Here are some reviews

I guess it really depends on what%26#39;s important to you. I believe AA has more legroom in their economy than other airlines. If you are collecting miles on BA, that should figure into your equation. There are plenty of previous threads on this subject on this forum and there are a number of other websites with good info. Here are 2 links and at least one with mention other websites to check if you want.

I flew with AA to Chicago and had a great trip. Plenty of leg room and surprisingly really tasty food!
Depending on whether you will be using Heathrow or Gatwick, Continental is also a very good choice. We flew with Continental to New York last year and we will be going with them again this year
Last weekend I flew to NYC on Virgin Economy - the same day, my sister flew there on Zoom. By all accounts, she had a far better flight than we did - the Virgin plane was very uncomfortable, the seat was dirty and the service was terrible.
The Zoom plane was new, clean and they had great service.
The only problem with Zoom is that they don%26#39;t have the seatback entertainment systems, it%26#39;s one screen at the front showing only one channel (films). As I can%26#39;t sleep on planes, this would be rather a problem for me.
Next time I%26#39;m going to risk baggage loss and go with BA!!
I would fly AA because their flights to and from london have seat configurations that have two seats on either side of the plane and I find this to be infinitely more comfortable than the 3 seats on the outside of the aisle configurations.
We got bumped from our AA flight to london last winter and had to fly on a different flight (still AA but not with our original seat choices) in the middle section where there are 5 seats across and for what it was (or how miserable it could have been) it wasnt terrible. That said, there was no one in front of me so I didnt have to deal with people ramming their seat back.
I%26#39;m rather tall and so is my husband and so the seat size and room are really important to us when we fly which is why I chose AA for those flights.
Others I know who arent as tall prefer to fly BA - it is all a matter of what is most important to you between those two airlines I think. If I was going to earn miles for the trip on one flight but not the other, I would go with the mile earning flight.
Zoom
BA
AA
AA I%26#39;d avoid at all costs -- the service is absolutely atrocious accross the board in my experience. Lots of coworkers reguarly do JFK-LHR on BA and do just fine, although that%26#39;s in business... Not sure about Zoom in NYC, but have heard excellent things about their canadian service.
