New Years Eve Times Square

my wife and i are staying at New York for NYE our original plans were to stand in times square to watch the ball drop but since reading the reviews about waiting time, no toilets etc we have decided a bar or restaurant in times square seems better . we are thinking of tgi fridays or bubba gumps as it seems they let you out at midnight to watch the ball drop , does anybody have any other ideas ps we do want to be in times square

You%26#39;d have to check with the restaurants to see what they%26#39;re doing for new year%26#39;s eve. Also check Olive Garden. It%26#39;s a mediocre chain restaurant, but their new year%26#39;s eve celebration gets good reviews, and the restaurant faces Times Square. I think they were getting $200 a person last year.

we have checked tgi fridays sounds good,open bar etc $275 bubba gumps sounds similar but can get vip tickets $389 any idea what difference between vip and general will be?cant find anything for olive garden though.

I%26#39;m not sure about the difference between VIP and general, but I emailed Bubba Gump about a month back, and they still weren%26#39;t sure what they were going to do for NYE at that point, and said that they would know closer to the date...

tickets are now on sale $389 vip and general $289 approx allthough when i rang they have no staff to take bookings over the weekend

SORRY i have just received an email from bubba gumps saying they are not on sale yet probably october sometime . When i telephoned tthem this previous weekend i was told that tickets were on sale but unable to book over the weekend ,sorry if i misled anybody

If things are the same as last new year at bubba gumps then the difference between general %26amp; VIP is that general tickets are seats away from the best view of times square. VIP tickets were right across the front of the restaraunt with the best view of the square. To be honest I wouldn%26#39;t bother paying the extra for VIP cos we went outside at midnight anyway. We waited for ages to book our tickets and they only became available about 2 weeks before our December 23rd departure.

thanks for the reply , it looks like we will be going to tgi fridays it seems in a good spot and similar price , what bars etc are open after bubba gumps and tfi%26#39;s shut cos they both shut at 1-2 and i plan on stopping out a bit later than that allthough with an open bar from 9:00 who knows? do most bars require reservations for later in the night or can you just walk in ?
