We were in NYC two years ago for Christmas and stumbled our way up Mulberry Street to find the BEST cannolis. I cannot remember the name of the shop - I hope this isn%26#39;t too much of a long shot, can anyone help me with the name of the shop?
It was right on Mulberry Street, on the east side of the street, about 1/2 way up as you come from Canal. You walk into the shop and the pastry counter/display is on the right side, they gave us the cannolis in a little white box tied with a ribbon, I want to say the ribbon was purple or blue? I know the name of the business was on the sticker or on the box, ARRRGHHHH It%26#39;s killing me I need to know their name!!
Thanks!
Cannoli
Sounds like La Bella Ferrara%26#39;s
Cannoli
I thought Ferrara%26#39;s case was on the left side as you entered the shop?
Ok, never mind.
Two different places.
Leave the box and ribbon, take the cannoli.
I%26#39;m wondering on second thought if it wasn%26#39;t a string instead of a ribbon. Hmmm...would a string make it a different shop?
Although I looked up La Bella Ferrara%26#39;s and it looks suspiciously familiar...we are going back to NYC this Christmas and want to get ourselves another box of cannolis. It certainly won%26#39;t hurt to go into every shop on the east side of the street and sample everyone%26#39;s to make sure we can find the right one!
While we are down there cannoli shopping, any suggestions for dinner? I know Little Italy isn%26#39;t what it used to be, but surely there is a great traditional place to eat before we head out for dessert?
Read the collection of posts on Little Italy and Italian Restaurants in the FAQ ';sticky'; at the top of this forum, and you%26#39;ll get your answer.
Will check out the previous posts for Italian dinner -
But back to the cannoli - all you cannoli lovers out there, if in fact, Ferrara%26#39;s is the correct shop, are they the best around or would someone suggest another favorite to try/compare?
I like both Rocco%26#39;s on Bleecker Street in the West Village and Venieros on E. 11th Street in the East Village:
