jazz clubs in nyc (manhattan)?

visiting nyc in november for 5 days mon./fri. with my wife and son, for his 21st b/day, he is doing a music degree in jazz studies at leeds college of music in uk. any ideas for visiting smallish jazz clubs in manhattan/nyc, the choice on web and guide books is mind blowing! greatful for ideas. thanks.

The first stop I%26#39;d make is on Mon. night at Dizzy%26#39;s Coca Cola. This venue is affiliated with Lincoln Center jazz/Julliard school of music and Mon. nights they have students performing (which also means the cover charge is less ;) You%26#39;ll also see a student promotion on the website which means your son can get in for $5 and eat free I think.

Also on Mon. nights, the great jazz guitarist Les Paul plays at Iridium. You could hit both since they%26#39;re not far apart.
