Recommendations on apartment

Hi

Would really appreciate your help. Am travelling to NY for the first time with 2 teenagers - daughter 13 and son 17. I have checked the accommodation on the apartments2book site and the following 4 are available and look good. I would really appreciate your opinions. We want to do the usual touristy things and travel next month for 5 days. The apartments are:

2 Midtown South at 31st Street

8 Murray Hill at 39th Street

11 Upper Westside at 75th Broadway

30 Midtown Central Park Residence

We want to see Ellis Island, do a bus tour, visit central park, catch a show, visit MOMART, do some shopping and see Chinatown. That%26#39;s the agenda

Do a search on this site to see the discussion on renting apartments. The verdict is that it is more trouble than it%26#39;s worth. Most New Yorkers cannot legally rent out their apartments and scams are rampant. Why are you looking at apartments? This is not a city where apartments are rented, get a hotel.

apartments2book.com is reportedly a reputable site

Someone, don%26#39;t remember who, wrote here last month, that the agency can be slow in responding

are you very certain those are definitely available?

Actually, apts 2 book uses mostly suite hotels so I can tell you which those are and you can look up reviews right here.

2= Affinia Manhattan

8= Eastgate Tower

11=the Beacon

30=the Buckingham

The Buckingham has got the best location of these 4 right near Central Park, witghin a walk to the Times Square area for shows, bus tour and not far from MOMA. HOWEVER, some of their rooms are nicer than others and I would say it%26#39;s probably not as nice a hotel as the other 3.

The Affinia Manhattan is the next most convenient location for you but it sits in a commercial area (near Macy%26#39;s so good for shopping) that most locals don%26#39;t like but many tourists find fine. You can walk to Times Square from here too.

The Eastgate Tower is in midtown east and is central (not far from Grand Central Terminal) with large rooms.

The Beacon is on the upper west side, an area just north of midtown that many people love b/c it%26#39;s more residential but still not too far from midtown. This was the area featured in the movie ';You%26#39;ve Got Mail.';

If you%26#39;re going for location, I%26#39;d say the Buckingham. If you%26#39;re going for nicest hotel, probably Affinia Manhattan. Only other thing I%26#39;ll add is not all will have the same bed configuration. I don%26#39;t know what size suite you%26#39;re thinking of (studio or 1 bedroom) but if you%26#39;re looking for 2 proper beds (vs. 1 bed and 1 sofabed) or even 3 beds, not sure all will offer that in a studio. Have you asked?

Forgot to add, you might want to check prices quoted from

apts 2 book vs directly on the hotel%26#39;s website and also on quikbook.com Occasionally they%26#39;ll be the same or cheaper on one of the other sites. It is true we%26#39;ve heard apts 2 book has been slow in response recently, but I think that may have more to do with the hotels themselves being slow at getting back to apts 2 book on availability than anything else.

Thanks so much for that. It%26#39;s great to get the names of the hotels so I can check directly. Apartments 2 book have confirmed availability on all the properties I listed. Will check directly with the hotels and post result. Thanks again for that

Hi, we have always booked apartments(although in a hotel, not actual apt.s people would live in if you know what I mean) because of extra space and bedding configurations, and just to have a small kitchen(Not that I would ever dream off cooking while in New York) I have used apartments to book in the past and they are good, but I would be very surprised if you got any of them to stay in next month. I triedto book 2 of the addresses with apt.2book back in June for November and could not get any of them for any dates in this month!! Best of luck, oh by the way, the Affina Manhatten is a great one to stay in, and you can book directly through their website.
