Help!
I%26#39;m heading to NYC in early December w/ my girlfriend and I want to pop the question there. I%26#39;m still in the planning stages. Any suggestions? I don%26#39;t really want the traditional dinner proposal. Something romantic but yet w/ some public around so we can share our happiness.
Please help! I%26#39;ve never been to NYC. We are staying at 102 Brownstone and will be in town on a Thursday staying through Sunday.
Thanks

Proposing to my girlfriend in NYC
In a recent New York Times wedding story, the writer mentioned Grand Central as a possible place to have a non sit down wedding.....i think it would be a sensational place to pop the question......the main waiting room is magnificent and she will always remember it.....you might want to skip the worst of rush hour (not 8 to 9:30 am and not 4 to 6:30 pm) but there are always people around......and loads of restaurants nearby to conclude the evening....including Metrazur which overlooks the station
I think Grand Central is a beautiful idea. The Campbell Apartment is a nice place to have pre or post-proposal drinks, as well.

I haven%26#39;t looked at the links posted so it%26#39;s possible it%26#39;s already here, but have a look for the posts from FlashLondon. Wonderful proposal that had all us ladies with a huge lump in our throats.
yes Kate,
that麓s the one I linked..
can麓t forget that :)
I think asking at the whispering arches in Grand Central would be cool. Of course you%26#39;d be standing with your backs to each other 20 feet away from each other!
The Rainbow Room or Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center -- or the skating rink! Both lovely settings in winter (perhaps the former if the weather is bad, the latter if it%26#39;s nice out!). Lots of the more popular places/restaurants/landmarks will be quite used to having special events there and can probably help make sure things go smoothly if you call in advance.
Best of luck!
(one piece of advice -- especially since it%26#39;s your first time in nyc, do yourself and your fiancee a favor, and spring for a cab or car service for transportation to/from the special event(s)!)
