Garment District Shopping Tours

Hi Folks

I%26#39;ve just heard about a couple of shopping tours through the garment district with access to private showrooms etc such as this one www.nyctrip.com/Pages/Details.aspx?TourID=308

Has anyone tried these? Is it worth it?

I%26#39;m normally quite happy to wander around shops and waste my money without a guide - but thought that this might have some added interesting info.

Hmmmm, I%26#39;ve never done it, but I%26#39;m not convinced it%26#39;s worth $90. Four hours of shopping on your own could be more productive, if you know what you want.

Also, the garment district showrooms may have limited sizes since they primarily make mock-up samples for buyers.

Instead, sign up for sample sale emails from

www.dailycandy.com

www.topbutton.com

Or peruse the sample sale listings in Time Out NY magazine when you%26#39;re here.

Thanks QB

These sites looks like a much cheaper option - although the daily emails are just going to make me crazy with jealousy at not being there.

FYI, Most stores in the garment district have signs on the doors saying that they sell wholesale only and require a ';resale'; certificate (which exempts the purchaser from paying sales tax).

I walk through there every day on the way to work

LivesinNJ - True, but it%26#39;s funny how some ';sales certificates'; have pictures of former U.S. Presidents on them in the center....

;o)

Seriously, some stores are more stringent than others.

';Al Por Mayor'; means ';Wholesale Only'; in Spanish. You%26#39;ll see that.
