Inn at the Falls

My husband and I are considering taking a short trip to the Hudson Valley region in October. Has anyone ever stayed at the Inn at the Falls or knows any thing about this Bed and Breakfast Hotel as it is called? We usually stay at the Courtyard on Route 9 but we really don%26#39;t care for that hotel.

Inn at the Falls

Inn at the Falls is located in a section of Poughkeepsie called Red Oaks Mill. It is slightly off the main roads. It%26#39;s the equivalent of two blocks from NYS Route 376 and probably around three miles from Route 9 via Spackenkill Road or Vassar Road.

The Inn is located next to a stream with a small waterfall popular with local fishermen. It looks more like a small hotel than a B%26amp;B. I remember touring through it when it first opened more than 25 years ago. I remember that no two rooms are alike. It looks well maintained and I serve on the boards of some nonprofit agencies that put high-level guests up there. My guess is that it is a step or two above the Courtyard.

There is also a more traditional B%26amp;B about a mile north of the Red Oaks Mill intersection on Route 376 called The Copper Penny Inn. You may also want to consider the Vassar Alumnae House at Vassar College, although they may still require you to have some Vassar connection (parent, alumna, etc.) It recently underwent a major renovation and you may enjoy a stay there.

Inn at the Falls

My husband and I stayed there about 10 years ago in one of the better rooms. It was very nice. They delivered a nice basket of fresh baked goods in the morning. I remember it being a nice little weekend getaway.

It is like a small hotel with a quaint feel. We prefer that to a bed and breakfast. That is just a little too personal for me.
